Well, I just got back from a vacation in Jamaica about 12 hours ago. So I haven't heard any news lately - good or bad. But on vacation, my 2 year old daughter made friends with a 2 year old Jamaican girl. They had so much fun playing together and I enjoyed talking and comparing notes with her mom. It was nice to make friends with someone from another culture and to know that mom's all have similar challenges - no matter where you are from! Thanks!

The good news is simply this... we have been given another day to live and make our own good news by doing good deeds. I spent 2 years in Iraq and was a JOYFUL recipient of MANY wonderful cards like Debbi is collecting (PLEASE send cards - they REALLY make a difference!!!!). I was injured there and really should have been killed. Every day I wake up is good news for me and for those who love me. The same is true for all the troops that are overseas (not just in the Middle East)... every day breathing is good news.

My good news is that a dear friend, who has suffered five miscarriages, is due to deliver a precious baby girl is just a few weeks.

God bless you for all you're doing for our troops and bless all those who stand up in support of them no matter what their political views are.

Wow, you have a very inspiring blog, I'll be back often. Good news: We finally got some rain today which is wonderful because of the fire danger here.

The good news on the North Slope is that spring break-up is here! Yep, the snow is melting and we are having warmer weather. Get your rubber boots out and splash in the mud puddles! That should make you smile. :-)

Well this is good news for us English people!!! Prince Harry has been told he cannot go to Iraq finally because he has had death threats made against him and his troups - so the army finally decided against him going, which is good for not only the monachy but also the families of the soldiers who serve underneath him because if he had gone he would have unfortunately put their lives more at risk than they will be out there as it is!! if you see what I am sort of trying to say?

Wow! This is such a nice thing you are doing! I've seen a bunch of blogs doing something similar and I tell myself I need to contribute, but just don't seem to have time! But evelopes is something I can definitely do!!!

Something good in the world...this is insignificant in the world stage but huge for me. I met Chris Hadfield (Canadian Astronaut) I've been waiting 10 yrs to meet. He met and exceeded my expectations so I am going to be riding that high for a while!!

Well, today my 5-year-old DD came home from kindergarten grinning from ear to ear because her classroom's chicks started hatching today. She was absolutely over the moon! I think that's pretty good news—in this chaotic, technology-obsessed world, a kid can still get excited over some chicks pecking their way out of eggs.
Congrats on your blog!

Good News?? Well, my hubby was interviewed by Sally Jessy Raphael today on the radio/internet & she was super upbeat and positive about him being a combat artist! :) So I would say something good going on in the world is SJR's new radio podcasts that are light, refreshing, and upbeat!

Hi Debbi.
What a wonderful blog candy giveaway; thank you so much for your generosity. I know exactly how you feel. It seems like everytime I turn on the news, it's bad. Have you heard of Lisa Stebic; the missing woman from Plainfield, IL??? She lives in my town. It's very sad.

What I try to do when all the news I hear is bad is to try and think about all of the postive things in my life. How lucky I am to have a beautiful, healthy family; a secure job, a beautiful roof over my head, wonderful friends, etc.

Stay positive and thanks again for a chance to win some wonderful goodies.

I have some good news!

My mother was just released from the hospital after being in there for a rare form of staph. She's thrilled to be out and I'm thrilled I don't have to see her like that!

Thanks for this Debbi!

Personal good news is that my son got married two weeks ago and today is his 30th birthday and he is on his honey moon with the love of his life. I was always worried about him and he seemed drifting all the time. He was a cop for 3 years and got laid off, got another job and was transfered to Iowa and got fired. Had to keep starting over at minimum wage and had no money to pay bills. He wanted to come back to MIchigan where it was even worse than when he left. I said no (the hardest words I have to say reguarding my kids) He happened to luck into a temp position and then got hired permanantly to run the computer division (all self taught) and met his bride at a volleyball game. they are building a house and to see him cry from being happy was worth all the nights I cried because I said no and felt guilty.

For something good in the world, there is a group called Noah's Ark who go into areas with natural disasters and take care of pets and reunite them with families. They were at Katrina and are ready to help elsewhere. I hope they get absolutely no jobs this year but it is inevitable they will, so keepthem in mind if you love to donate to animal groups!

My news isn't that big, more exciting. My son had a ball game against the team who has only been defeated once, and they won. And to boot, my son, the catcher, hit a double, triple and wrapped it up with a grand slam. He is only 8. He has been picked for the all stars and select ball team. I hope I don't sound like a boasting mom here, but it is good news.
Thanks for the chance to win and I hope everyone is having a great day.

Wow what an awesome thing your doing..

My news isn't earth shattering but it is to me & my family. My grandmother turned 90 in April and for the past 2 years has suffered many complications from type II diabetis. Her last surgery to save as much of her foot as they can was just about 4 weeks ago. When she was discharged from the hospital my aunt (her dil) refused to take her back in and so the family had to rush to get her admitted to a nursing home. The good news is the nursing home she went to my SIL is actually her Social Worker and my MIL volunteers there 2 days a week. Every day my Aunt and Mother go and see her. So she's having more company now than ever before. Here's the great news. There was a meeting today and everyone including the dr's are very pleased with her progress. She's gaining weight, meeting people, participating in activities. So today and each and every day we have with her is a blessing and one that I charish very much.

Hi Debbi (with no "e")
About 5 yrs. ago I became so unhappy about the conditions in the world & often wondered if there are any nice people left. Then I came down with cancer. It completely changed my outlook on life, and I've never been happier. I am constantly meeting so many wonderful, caring people. Guess the lesson to learn from this is: Life is wonderful if you look for the beauty in it rather than the ugliness.
