SENDING PACKAGES TO THE TROOPS

Thanks to those who participated I was able to put together 120 card assortments to send to our troops. I am so pleased by the number of people who were able to send cards in such a short amount of time plus I have many more who have said that they were unable to get involved last time due to other committments but will be sending cards next time. I look forward to seeing how many servicemembers were can send cards to in the next shipment. If you are interested in helping next time please email me at
pfcrensmom-cardsfortroops@yahoo.com for information.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED NOW

For those who do not know there has been a caravan going cross country this past week from San Francisco to Washington D.C. collecting over TEN THOUSAND American flags from proud patriots (LIKE YOU & ME) across the country to send to units in Iraq and Afghanistan as a message of support for our troops and their mission fighting the war on terror. There will be a pro-troop rally tomorrow. It seems C-SPAN may not be covering that rally. I am asking for your support in this. Please check out Gathering of Eagles & Move America Forward for more information as they can say it better than I. Thank you. If you don't have time to read right now then :

"We need hundreds of calls and faxes to C-Span urging them, politely, to cover the Gathering of Eagles event at Constitution Gardens on Saturday, 17 March……urge them gently, but firmly by calling C-SPAN TELEPHONE NUMBER
Main Number: (202) 737-3220
FAX number 202-737-6226 (Assignment Desk)"

C-SPAN emails:
viewer@c-span.org
events@c-span.org

"HI — We have been contacting our Senators and Congressmen — 70 so far — requesting them to put their words, “We support our Veterans & Troops”, into action by contacting CSPAN with a ‘kind nudge’ to cover GOE. Not that this will do a lot of good for only 1 call… HOWEVER … if any or all of us contact them there may be something that can be done.http://www.senate.gov/ is where we started and went down the list of numbers.

Please try to do at least one of these things today.....thanks.

Cards still needed for our Troops

1 week to go until our next packing. You still have time to send cards for our men & women serving our country. Really needing ones written to them.......Easter, Thank you, thinking of you......with personal notes (Thank you for your service, you're in my thoughts & prayers, etc). Takes just a couple of minutes of your time & they deserve so much. No matter what your thoughts are on the war you must support these men & women! For more information check post of March 1st. Thank you.

Worth Watching - USA basketball Team

This is a stirring 4 minute video that is well worth the time to view.

Coach K was Bob Brown's coach at West Point prior to moving to Duke.

Recently, COL Bob Brown former Cdr of 1-/25 SBCT, and a few woundedsoldiers formerly under his command participated in a team building exercise with the US Olympic Men's basketball team. You'll be impressed.

Cards for the Troops still needed

Please note that this is an ongoing project so even if you can't get cards to us in time for this mailing you can still send them for the next one. We are need MORE Cards TO the troops....just a quick note inside thanking them for their service & letting them know they are in your thoughts & prayers. Not much to do when you consider what they are doing for you. Email me at pfcrensmom-cardsfortroops@yahoo.com for more information & check out post from March 1st. Thank you for any help you can give.

Thanks Vanessa

Found a very kewl stamper who is gonna do some cards for the troops, Vanessa (check out her blog).....she's helping me get more donations. Her blog turned me on to Desert Flier, a trauma & critical care nurse who is currently deployed to Iraq. Check out his blog....he's a great writer & gives his personal story of his life in the sandbox. He's only been there a couple of weeks thus far. If you haven't watched the video I posted on February 28th please do so.....the song is really, really good.

If you didn't see the PBS Special, When Parents are Deployed, then you should read this & maybe that will motivate you to make some cards that these parents can send home to their children. Wouldn't it be nice for them to get a special hand made card just for them from the person they miss so much?? Even if you don't make cards I saw boxes of birthday/thank you cards, etc. at Walgreens last nite that could be sent.

Hallmark doesn't have stores in Iraq or Afghanistan

I am a member of Operation Mom, a support group for families & friends of active duty servicemembers....my only son (only child actually) is in the US ARMY. On March 24th (if you can't make this date then send for next mailing which will be end of June) we will be sending packages overseas to troops & would like to put cards in the packages. I am requesting Easter cards & Thank you cards from you TO the troops....with a personal note inside. Due to security issues the envelopes must be unsealed & if you would like a response (no guarantee on this as they are a bit busy over there but I did get 2 responses at Christmas) you can put your return address on the envelope or include your email address inside. I am also sending cards (blank inside) that the troops can use to send home to friends & family (ie:birthday cards, miss you, thinking of you, thank you cards & just because cards) ....don't you think the moms/dads/aunts/uncles, etc would love to send cards home to the little ones?......these will need envelopes but they do get free postage. We can also always use Sympathy cards. This would be a great way to use the swap cards you accumulate. If you are interested in participating please email me at pfcrensmom-cardsfortroops@yahoo.com & I will answer any questions you may have & give you address where to send the cards. I am hoping to do this year round as we send packages multiple times of the year.

Thanks goes out to Sarah who has posted my blog on her's asking for donations to Cards for the Troops. Check out her blog....some great ideas to see.

MAKES YOU PROUD!

The way it should be, a thankful and grateful nation for those who volunteer to serve and protect.
